Welcome to the bioMASS energy labORATORY
About The biomass energy Laboratory
The biomass energy laboratory is based in the School of Forest Resources of the University of Maine. Dr. Ling Li, as the principal investigator, is dedicated to conducting transdisciplinary research studies to better utilize the abundant sustainable forest resources, help sustain a healthy forest management, reduce the carbon footprint, and stimulate the rural economic development. The research areas include:
- Utilization of sustainable and renewable biomass for bioenergy production, e.g. solid energy fuel.
- Membrane technologies for moisture separation and their applications in wood drying and HVAC systems;
- Wood physics with a focus of wood-water relation; and
- Numerical analysis of hydrothermal behavior of wood and engineered wood products, such as CLT.
